A series of site-specific, durational performances across the University of Roehampton. February-March 2016. Part of The Posers, a collaboration with Paul Paschal.
Five New Dances explores the performance identity of ‘The Poser’, and their relationship to an audience and site. Presenting these figures through different identities and gestures, the works research a variety of relationships to reality, abstraction, parody, commitment and meaning. Predominately viewed by passers-by, these ambiguous and semi-confrontational situations intervene on the everyday use of space.
“We become so boring that the space is the place.”
– Tamara Tomic-Vajagic, Senior Lecturer in Dance Studies, University of Roehampton
